Marvin Eugene “Gene” Forister, 79, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, in Converse. He was born on Feb. 18, 1934, in Karnes City, Texas, to Afton and Leola Forister.

Gene worked for many years with Carefree Exteriors where he enjoyed laughing and joking with his employees and customers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Brigitte Ida Forister; his son, Chris Forister; and his parents.

Gene is survived by his two daughters, Shirley A. Dixon and husband Kenneth and Cindy Forister; and sister Mary C. Forister.

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 3, from 5-7 p.m. in the Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio.

A funeral service was held on Monday at noon in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bill Shockley officiating.

Interment followed with military honors in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
