SEDC offers bid to grow industrial park
STOCKDALE -- The directors of the Stockdale Economic Development Corp. (SEDC) are focusing on marketing of the Stockdale Industrial Park; during their Feb. 25 meeting they approved a financial package to obtain isolated acreage in the park, to facilitate marketing tracts there.
According to SEDC President Frank Bain Jr. after the meeting, the Stockdale Industrial Park is split in two, with 6.45 acres segregated by a 3-acre tract, once used by the railroad. Bain said the SEDC directors met in executive session to discuss the options available to obtain a legal easement.
After convening into regular session, the directors agreed to make a reasonable offer for all the right of way between the two SEDC properties. If acquired, the 6.45 acres would become a 9.4-acre tract, fully accessible and able to be developed.
The 9.4 acres were discussed during the Feb. 5 Stockdale City Council meeting. At that time, the city council instructed the city manager to proceed with annexation for the 6.45 acres owned by the SEDC and the 3 acres formerly used by the railroad; this land was not annexed in November 2006.
In attendance: Directors Frank Bain Jr., Polly Stryker, L.H. West, J.C. Hrubetz, Ginger Coleman, and Roger Armstrong.
