Offer condolences


William T. Sturrock, 86, of Pleasanton passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, in his home with his family by his side. He was born to Mary Bell and William T. Sturrock Sr. on Dec. 16, 1926, in Hull, Texas.

William was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pleasanton, where he enjoyed making coffee for the Sunday school members. He worked 40 years for Exxon and was a pumper prior to his retirement. William was an avid reader of World War II material and loved airplanes. He loved telling jokes to his family and friends, and his favorite pastime was eating out.

William was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Nelda Arlene Abshier Sturrock.

He is survived by sons Gary Don Sturrock of Hallettsville and Michael Wayne Sturrock and wife Paulette of La Grange; daughter Joy Ann Pierdolla and husband Joey of La Vernia; grandchildren Joseph T. Sturrock and wife Gwen, Sara Koehl and husband David, Katy Weyand and husband Deric, Jon Cody Pierdolla and wife Eryn, and Courtney Plain and husband Jeffrey; great-grandchildren Avery Koehl, Karly Weyand, and soon-to-be Carter Weyand.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 8, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton.

A graveside service was held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Abshier Family Cemetery in Hankamer.
