The Sara Strey Memorial Scholarship Foundation is gearing up for its fourth annual fund-raiser to be held on Saturday, March 23, from 5 p.m. to midnight in Texas Pride Barbecue at 2980 E. Loop 1604 in Adkins.

The foundation was created in memory of Sara Strey, and in the past three years, has awarded more than $130,000 in scholarships to 103 area graduating seniors. The goal of the foundation is to continue to help students reach their dreams of a college education.

At the time of her death, Strey was a junior at Texas Lutheran University and a graduate of East Central High School. She was the daughter of Donna and David Solarczyk of St. Hedwig and Shawn Strey of La Vernia.

Activities will include a silent and live auction, door prizes, and live music provided by “Ranch Rock.” Food will be served from 5-9 p.m.

Presale tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under, and are available at Solarczyk’s Automotive in St. Hedwig or Matt Brown State Farm in La Vernia. Tickets will be $20 at the door. Donations are also being accepted for the auctions or door prizes.

For more information, contact Sandra Burg at 830- 779-1098 or thefourburgs@yahoo.com, or visit sarastreyfoundation.org.
