Occupy The NRA to Occupy Three Major Wall Street Firms, Deliver Message:

New York, NY -- Occupy the NRA (ONRA) is launching a long-term campaign to hold Wall Street firms accountable for their investments in gun manufacturers. Direct actions, in the Occupy tradition, begin on March 18th, 2013 against BlackRock, Cerberus and Owl Creek Asset Management (OCAM).

ONRA will push these firms to divest their stocks in gun manufacturers.

“We believe these hedge funds have blood on their hands, and we will hit them where it hurts most: namely, their bottom line,” said Aaron Black, Organizing Director, Occupy the NRA. “ After the Sandy Hook massacre, we can no longer sit by and watch these greedy firms grow more prosperous off the backs of murdered young children.”

ONRA chose the firms because they either own millions of dollars of holdings in gun manufacturers’ stock or bought stock as a direct result of the Sandy Hook massacre.

Cerberus has one of the largest gun manufacturer portfolios amongst hedge funds.

BlackRock is the biggest money manager holder of gun manufacturer stock at over $300 million worth of shares. It singlehandedly owns 5% of Smith & Wesson.

Black continued, “Although Cerberus has committed to divesting its gun portfolio, it is unclear that its executives have followed through with their promise. Our goal is to move Cerberus and push BlackRock to act, now.”

Shockingly, Owl Creek Asset Management bought its gun stocks after the Newtown massacre in a coldblooded attempt to profit from gun sales even as the country mourned the victims of Sandy Hook. “

Black said “We will expose Owl Creek Asset Management’s shameless approach to profit from death.”

ONRA will continue the campaign targeting other such firms. Its goal is to cause a ripple effect throughout the hedge fund industry.

“We want firms to think twice before investing in gun stock and encourage the remaining firms to divest what they have. Hedge funds and their investments are generally unknown to the public at large, allowing them to operate with impunity. We will change that,” added Black.

These actions will be accompanied by a social media campaign, which will employ the use of the hashtags: #profitfrommurder / #silentnomore / #momentofnoise

When: NOON, Monday, March 18, 2013

WHERE: Begins at Owl Creek Management , 640 5th Ave #20, New York, NY 10019; Transit: 5 Av/53 St).

Activists will then walk five blocks, visit BLACKROCK GROUP (Park Avenue Plaza
55 East 52nd Street), and CERBERUS CAPITAL MANAGEMENT (875 Third Avenue) to further disrupt business.

The firms are within three blocks of each other in Midtown Manhattan.
VISUALS: Rally attendees will carry ready-made signs and placards bearing black and white silhouette images of children to signify not just the child victims of Sandy Hook, but the victims killed everyday by guns. Protesters to bring pots & pans, whistles, horns, etc.

Watch it folks. The crazies are out again. Hope they stay in New York City where they have strict gun laws and attempt to regulate the size of soft drinks. Maybe the mayor will walk with them.
