Municipal, school board, and other local elections are set for Saturday, May 11.

The last day to register to vote in the May 11 elections is Thursday, April 11. Early voting runs Monday, April 29, through Tuesday, May 7. Ballots by mail must be requested by Friday, May 3.

City elections have been canceled in St. Hedwig, as the incumbents for places 1, 3, and 5 are unopposed. Councilmen Dwayne Padalecki, Walter Wyrwich, and Francisco Arevalo will continue to serve.

Stockdale ISD also has canceled its election for Districts 1, 2, 5, and 7. Respective incumbents Mauro Monita, Craig Clancy, Teri Dugi, and Sal Urrabazo filed unopposed and will retain their places.

Candidates on the May ballots include:

•Wilson Memorial Hospital District board: Precincts 1, 2, 3, and 4; currently serving are Monica Flores, Ronald Eckel, Sue Coats, and Sam Carter, respectively; and an at-large place, currently held by Jimmy Fietsam. Candidates are: Precinct 1, Tom A. Ray; Precinct 2, Ronald W. Eckel; Precinct 3, Sue Coats and Tom Miller; Precinct 4, Sam Carter; at-large seat, Larry Richardson and Dr. James D. Rethaber.

•Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District (UWCD): Director seats representing the four counties served, including Karnes County, held by Fabian Jendrusch; Atascosa County, Larry Fox; Frio County, Clifton Stacy; and Wilson County, Steve Snider. No election will take place, as candidates filed unopposed and will therefore be declared elected. These are: Atascosa County, Fox; Frio County, Stacy; Karnes County, Frank Kruciak; and Wilson County, Snider. In Karnes County, an opening existed for two directors, for one full term and one unexpired term. As no one filed for the full term, someone will be appointed, according to Melissa Gonzalez, Evergreen UWCD secretary/bookkeeper.

•La Vernia Independent School District (ISD): Places 1, 2, 3, and 4, currently held by Mike Jendrusch, Richard Schier, John Bilicek, and Eric Friedrichs, respectively. Candidates are: Place 1, Jendrusch and Janette Chall; Place 2, Schier and Kimi Kravitz; Place 3, Bilicek, Chuck Ford, Susan Reinhard, and Dr. David W. Cribb; Place 4, Friedrichs and Cody Miller, Ed. D.

•Poth ISD: For or against the issuance of $3.9 million in bonds to construct, acquire, and equip school buildings and levying the tax in payment thereof.

•Falls City ISD: Places currently filled by Eddie Bordovsky and Patrick Jarzombek, and a special election to fill the unexpired term of Steve Dziuk. Candidates include Bordovsky and Jarzombek, along with Jason Mabe and Kelly Hons. For the unexpired seat, the candidates are Janelle Dziuk, Aaron Ermis, and Marlin Moczygemba.

•Falls City City Council: places currently held by Gery Jendrusch and Clarence Crawford. Jendrusch was the sole filer as of the deadline.

•La Vernia City Council: Seats currently held by Eloi Cormier, Randy Leonard, and Marie Gerlich. Candidates are Cormier, Gerlich, Leonard, Jennifer Moczygemba, and Martin Poore.

•Stockdale City Council: Mayor, currently serving is Johnny Stahl; and council places 1 and 2, filled at present by Sherry D. Lambeck and Saul Bosquez, respectively. Candidates for mayor are Stahl and Ray Wolff; council candidates are Bosquez and Lambeck. Voters also will determine whether or not to approve the city’s streets maintenance tax.
