R.W. ‘Bobby’ Richter
R.W. “Bobby” Richter, 60, of La Vernia passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013. He was born on Jan. 24, 1953, in Castroville, Texas, to Carl and Uree Richter.
Bobby grew up in La Vernia. He graduated from John Jay High School in San Antonio in 1972. After high school he attended Ryder Technical School. He worked in refrigeration, heavy equipment hauling, mechanics, and welding. In 1984, he started his own business of transportation services. The following year, Bobby married Shirley in La Vernia. They were happily married for 28 years. Bobby was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in La Vernia. He was very active with the La Vernia Livestock Show and a member of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition since 1990. At the time of his passing, he was serving as a La Vernia city councilman, as he had for a number of years.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law Irene Pawlik; and brother-in-law Alvin Volkmann.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Richter of La Vernia; sons Robert Richter of La Vernia and Jason Keller and wife Becky of San Antonio; daughter Lindsey Keller and fiancé Jason Herrera of Seguin; granddaughter Reagan Herrera; siblings Dr. Carl X. Richter and wife Nellie, Kathy Volkmann, John F. Richter and wife Cindy, and Margo Kandis and husband Mike; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 26, from 5-9 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Robert M. Palan officiating.
Interment will follow in the Concrete Cemetery near La Vernia.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
