The City of Poth is currently accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police. The Chief is responsible for all operational and administrative aspects of the police department, provide patrol, criminal investigations, crime prevention, enforce all laws and ordinances and be responsible for public health and safety. Must be community oriented, have strong public relations skills, strong work ethics, must be physically fit and maintain a professional image while in uniform. A High School Diploma or GED is required. Must have a valid Class C or higher Texas Driver’s License. Must be TCLEOSE Master Peace Officer certified and have at least 5 years of experience with law enforcement agency; SWAT, Gang Unit, Narcotics or Detective experience a plus, pass a thorough background check investigation with drug screen and credit check. 1963-2013

Karleen K. Bailey, 49, of Watertown, S.D., passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013, in a hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. Karleen was born on Sept. 17, 1963, in Hot Springs, S.D., to Gaylord and Shirley (Sleiter) Bleeker.

She was a graduate of Floresville High School. On Sept. 19, 1983, she married John A. Bailey in Floresville, Texas. Karleen moved to Watertown, where she worked at the Coteau Shopper, and later as an appraiser in the Director of Equalization office. She married Raymond Eggena on Sept. 10, 2004, in Watertown. The couple moved to Aberdeen, S.D., and had lived there since.

She enjoyed cooking, cosmetology, riding horses, cake decorating, and decorating for the seasons. She also had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles. Karleen loved spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ben and Helen Sleiter; and her maternal grandparents, John and Jennie Bleeker.

Karleen is survived by her husband, Raymond of Aberdeen; her children, Keith Bailey and wife Danelle, Krystle Jenkins and husband Josh, and Kami Bailey, all of Watertown; a grandson, Keigen Bailey of Watertown; her parents; brothers Mark Bleeker and wife Julie, and Bryan Bleeker, all of Watertown, and Jason Bleeker and wife Becky of Webster, S.D.; and one sister, Paula Chapa and husband Joey of Goose Creek, S.C.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 21, from 4-7 p.m. in the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

A memorial service was held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Watertown Wesleyan Church in Watertown, with Pastor Jim Biswell officiating.

Burial followed in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
