LA VERNIA -- For the second time this season, the La Vernia High School tennis team hosted a tournament, and Head Coach Angie Hargreaves said her team did a great job against district teams, and the varsity team tied Schulenburg for second overall.

Destiny Roath and Nick Guitron led the way for La Vernia as they took first in mixed doubles. Preslie Pavlich finished second in girls singles, and the team of Haleigh Johnson and Paula Watson were second in girls doubles play. Zach Kubena and Joey Rincon won consolation in boys doubles.

The junior varsity team also did great. Clarissa Tedrowe and Jessica Miller took first in girls doubles, and Havanah Unruh and Amanda Kirk finished second. Blanca Alvarado won consolation in girls singles.

Both teams were scheduled to travel to Fairchild March 25, and to McFarlin March 26 for the district tournament.
