Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1956-2013

Angelita Mermea Amesquita passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 56 years, 5 months, and 21 days. She was a lifelong resident of Floresville. She was born Oct. 5, 1956, in Floresville, the daughter of Manuel Mermea and Juanita Montoya.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Maria Esther Escamilla.

Angelita is survived by her husband, Jose Amesquita; her daughters, Isabel Mermea, Yolanda Kalish and husband Armando Rico, and Kimberly Kalish and husband Leonardo Serrano, all of Floresville; her son, Joe Kalish and wife Robin of Ohio; her sister, Lydia M. Palmer of Wallis; her brothers, Manuel, Ernest, Oscar, William, Daniel, James, and John Mermea, all of San Antonio; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 2, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Elmendorf with the Rev. Andrew Kafara as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Saspamco.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jose Amesquita, Armando Rico, Leonardo Serrano, Manuel Mermea, Ernest Mermea, and Daniel Mermea.
