Miss Bria Lyssy, the daughter of Duane and Patience Lyssy of Poth, competed Feb. 17 in the Miss Teen San Antonio Pageant.

In order to qualify for the pageant, Bria had to have an interview with pageant officials. Soon after that, she got the news that she would be competing in the pageant. She went through training, another interview, and photo sessions before the pageant itself.

Pageant day was a full day of rehearsals, more photos, prep, and then the actual pageant! Bria competed with 44 other girls in the Miss Junior Teen category. After all the contestants showed their casual and formal wear, the top 10 were selected.

While she did not win the big crown, Bria was very excited about being third runner-up in her very first pageant competition. As a top 10, Bria is eligible for the national competition in Florida.

Although it was a long day, this was a great experience for her where she gained some new friends and had a lot of fun.

Bria and her parents would like to thank all of the people and businesses that helped sponsor her for this pageant: Blessed Sacrament Church, Father Gregory Szewczyk, Lyssy & Eckel, Jansky’s Service Station, Felux Metal Works, Southern Comfort Construction, Wiatrek’s Meat Market, Doguet’s Grass Farm, Linda’s Beauty Salon, Diane Wiatrek, and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Heep, and, of course, all her family and friends.
