FLORESVILLE -- Police here are investigating after two Texas Edition Chevrolet trucks went from “rollin’ on dubs” to sitting on blocks.

Detective George Ortiz of the Floresville Police Department said both incidents occurred between 10 p.m. April 8 and 6 a.m. April 9. One of the trucks was parked outside a residence on Hospital Boulevard, while the other was parked outside a home at the corner of Sixth and E streets. In both cases, the owners of the trucks report that all four 20-inch rims and tires were removed from the trucks. The vehicles then were placed on blocks before the thieves departed.

Law-enforcement agencies throughout Texas continue to report such incidents targeting Texas Edition Chevrolet vehicles. The trim package -- an available option for full-sized Chevrolet trucks such as the Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, and Tahoe -- includes 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. Officials suggest installing locking lug nuts, which could help to deter this type of theft.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call the Floresville Police Department at 830-393-4055. Anonymous tips, which are eligible for a cash reward if an arrest is made, can be furnished to Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636) or bit.ly/NDrIut.

What I do is put two different locking nuts on each wheel. it makes it that much more difficult and time consuming to remove when you're not the owner.

These rims run like $5,000 or $6,000 for a new set. Look around on Craigslist, and you'll find some knuckleheads selling them for a few hundred bucks. Yet, for less than ... Read More Read More
