Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1957-2013

Dennis Alan Rogers, 55, of La Vernia, Texas, made his final journey to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 5, 2013. He was born in Fort Thomas, Ky., Sept. 26, 1957, to Donald and Sharlene (Marlatt) Rogers, the younger of two children, and the only son.

Dennis managed the Rittiman Auto Parts store in San Antonio for more than 15 years.

He was preceded in death in 2010 by his beloved wife, Daisy Rogers; and in 2012 by his father, Donald Rogers.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Sharlene Rogers; his children, Stephanie, Cole, and Jennifer Rogers and stepdaughter Dawn McClure; his cherished grandchildren, Dylan Rhoads, Derrick Moore, Sophia Arenas, and Kaylee, Sky, and Logan Rogers; and his sister Kathy Billiter and husband Larry.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m. in the River Oaks Church in Sutherland Springs, with Pastor Paul Buford to officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to River Oaks Church, 10294 F.M. 539, Sutherland Springs, TX 78161, or Heart to Heart Hospice of San Antonio, 8918 Tesoro Drive, Ste. 108, San Antonio, TX 78217 in Dennis’ name.
