Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Betty Jean Dzierzanowski, 74, of St. Hedwig, Texas, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013. She was born on Aug. 19, 1939, in San Antonio to Anton and Mary Helen (Kruse) Ott. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Antonette Skloss.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ignatz J. Dzierzanowski; children Cindy Dzierzanowski Harris, Dale John Dzierzanowski and wife Jodi Ann, Diane J. “DeeDee” Zaiontz and husband Matthew, and Ignatz J. Dzierzanowski Jr. and wife Mary; grandchildren Jeffrey Dzierzanowski, Joey Dzierzanowski, Jamie Dzierzanowski, Dale John Dzierzanowski Jr., Jonathan Harris, Cheyenne Zaiontz, Shannon Zaiontz, Bailey Dzierzanowski, and Brianna Dzierzanowski; great-grandchildren Viola Dzierzanowski, Kayla Dzierzanowski, and Alexandria Dzierzanowski; brothers Stanley Ott and Ronnie Ott; sister Mary Ann Freitag and husband Bobby; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 8, from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig, with the Rev. Bill Zadora officiating.

Interment followed in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery in Selma.

Memorial contributions may be made by way of Masses.
