Retired U.S Army Master Sgt. Art Hansen, 88, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. He was born on May 13, 1924, in Illinois.

Art was preceded in death by his son, Skip Hansen; sister Dolores Haywood; and son-in-law Wes Krueger.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gloria Hansen of La Vernia; daughters Pam Forbis and husband Denny and Becky Duelm and husband Michael, all of La Vernia, and Debbie Shanahan and husband Dick and Judy Krueger-McDougald and husband Chester, all of Adkins; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 7, from 6-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, at 1:45 p.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
