Support a select committee for Benghazi
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL Capt. Larry Bailey issued the following statement along with a letter signed by 700 veterans of the U.S. Special Operations community asking members of Congress to support House Resolution 36, which would create a House Select Committee to investigate the terrorist attack in Benghazi.
“As veterans from all components of the Special Operations community, we have no doubt that there’s a lot more to what happened in Benghazi than what President Obama and his administration are letting on. From the very beginning, he has misled and lied to the American people about why the attack on September 11, 2012, happened, how it happened, and how our government failed to save the lives of Americans abroad,” Bailey said.
“We know from our first-hand experience in planning and executing rescue missions and responding to terror attacks that there are numerous serious questions left purposefully unanswered. It’s time that our representatives do their duty and put together a Select Committee with the power to learn what the real story is and why it has been so thoroughly obfuscated by our president and his minions,” Bailey continued.
“The families of those slain in Benghazi, our servicemen and women around the globe, and the American public deserve the truth -- not the lies, misdirection, and stonewalling coming from President Obama. I hope that all members of the House of Representatives will do the right thing and co-sponsor HR 36 to put an end to this seven-month travesty.”
