Dust will fly once again in the Stockdale rodeo arena as headers and heelers give it their all to claim the top prizes in the Buck Taylor SCTICA Benefit Team Roping event.

The eighth annual Buck Taylor South Central Texas Independent Cattlemen’s Association (SCTICA) Benefit Team Ropin’ is set for Saturday, April 27, at the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce Arena in Stockdale, featuring No. 7, 9, and 11 ropings.

No. 7 books open at 10 a.m. with roping to begin at 11 a.m. Ropers may enter one, draw three; or enter open, draw four for $100.

Books open for the No. 9 and No. 11 at noon, with competition to begin at 1 p.m. Ropers may enter one, draw three; or enter open, draw four for $100. The No. 9 and No. 11 will run together with separate short rounds.

Crossroads belt buckles will be awarded to first-place finishers, with breast collars for second-place finishers. Other prizes include bronc halters for third place and Cactus ropes for fourth-place finishers. Cash prizes will be awarded according to the number of teams entered.

Negative Coggins required.

The Independent Cattlemen’s Association (ICA) members put this roping on and invite everyone interested in roping or in supporting ICA to join them for a day of fun and fellowship. ICA is a grass-roots organization dedicated to presenting a strong voice for the beef industry statewide and nationally.

Refreshments will be available.

It is not known at press time if Buck Taylor, known for playing Newly in the Gunsmoke series and “Turkey Creek” Jack Johnson on “Tombstone,” will attend this year. Taylor has teamed with the SCTICA to have this team roping.
