BOERNE -- The Cibolo Nature Center & Farm will offer four workshops during April to help homeowners and gardeners live more environmentally sustainable lives.

•Harvesting Rainwater and Solar Energy -- Saturday, April 13, 9 a.m. to noon, in the library at the Cibolo Nature Center at 140 City Park Road in Boerne. John Kight will offer the latest technological information and practical advice for using water- and energy-saving technology. Participants will then carpool to Kight’s home to see his systems in action. The workshop costs $35. Register online at

As part of the Cibolo Nature Center & Farm’s natural gardening how-to series, three workshops will be offered at The Herff Farm at the Cibolo on 33 Herff Road. These workshops are free and registration is not required.

•Insect Traps -- Saturday, April 13, 10-11 a.m. --Explore ways of removing pesky pests from the vegetable garden using a variety of insect traps.

•Composting -- Saturday, April 20, 10-11 a.m. -- Learn some tips and tricks for creating an efficient compost pile.

•Edible Landscape Ornamentals -- Saturday, April 27, 10-11 a.m. -- Explore a variety of edible ornamentals and their culinary uses.
