East Central High School’s STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) club had three teams compete in the CyberPatriot cyber security competition this year. For the first time, the all-girls team qualified for the third round in the open division, and the JROTC team recently competed in the National meet in Washington, D.C., and placed 16th overall out of 47 teams.

The JROTC members were James Cameron, Dane Freddie, and Christian Lopez. The STEM club sponsors were Stephanie Sanders and Valarie Mendoza, along with Jasper Miller as the JROTC sponsor.

East Central appreciates the guidance and contribution of Delta Risk LLC and Mike Warren, the vice president in the Cyber Resiliency Services. Delta Risk LLC has graciously donated computers, entry fees for the competition, and Warren has mentored the teams throughout their competitions.

The male competitors were Chris Ware, Emilio Ramos, Juan Hernandez, Corey Brooks, and Sabian Villarreal. The female competitors were Krystina Lawrence, Julia Prado, Katheryn Bernal, and Amparo Vasquez.
