LA VERNIA -- At approximately 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, a car caught fire in the parking lot of the LaVernia HEB. Employees attempted to contain the fire with a fire extinguisher, but were unable to do so.

A page went out over the store overhead asking customers who parked near the produce entrance to please come to the front of the store in an attempt to move nearby vehicles.

Within minutes, the car on the driver’s side of the burning car also caught fire. Both appeared to be a total loss.

The vehicle on the passenger side of the burning car sustained damage as well. The LaVernia VFD arrived and put the blaze out. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is unknown.

Watch for more in print in the La Vernia News.
