1940-2013

Rafael Botello Ramirez Sr. passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in San Antonio at the age of 72 years, 8 months, and 28 days. He was born on July 12, 1940, in Poth, Texas, to Jesus Z. and Susanna Botello Ramirez.

Rafael was a former resident of Poth and a resident of San Antonio for 38 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Trinidad Guijon; and sister Rachel Hernandez.

Rafael is survived by his wife, Maria C. Alvarado Ramirez of San Antonio; children Martha Miller and husband Santiago of Hawaii, and Aricelda Garza, Sandra Ramirez, Tracey Guerra and husband Daniel, Rafael Ramirez Jr. and wife Diana, Ramon Alvarado and wife Cindy, and Billy Costey, all of San Antonio; son-in-law Juan Guijon of San Antonio; sisters Argentina Martinez, Martha Talamantez, Yolanda Acuna and husband Cruz, and Maria Irene Alvarado, all of San Antonio, and Maria Ruth Gomez and husband Frank of Fort Worth; brothers Samuel Ramirez and wife Gloria, Delfino Ramirez and wife Estella, and Jose Ramirez and wife Maria, all of San Antonio, and Rogelio Ramirez and wife Tonya of Coffee City; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 11, at 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Poth with Pastor Narvaez and Pastor Ramon Martinez officiating.

Interment followed in the Emmanuel Assembly of God Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Oscar Cardenas, Rafael Ramirez III, John Anthony Guerrero, Isaac Alvarado, Ray Anthony Alvarado, and Jose Perez.
