Marjorie Lee Weyel Donegan
Marjorie Lee Weyel Donegan, 90, of Seguin, Texas, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Marjorie was born Nov. 18, 1922, in New Berlin to Edgar August Henry and Irma Elsie Muelder Weyel.
She was a graduate of Seguin High School and received her associate degree from Texas Lutheran College (Texas Lutheran University) where she and Henry both sang in Texas Lutheran College Choir. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Seguin where she served several terms as superintendent of the Sunday school classes. She helped found the first Republican Women’s Club in Guadalupe County. Marjorie also served as president of the Tejas Club, the Junior Delphian Club, and the Literary Club. Marjorie enjoyed her role as a community activist as well as spending precious time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and was a Silver Life Master.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Charles Henry Donegan Jr.; parents; her brothers-in-law, Benton Donegan, Buck Luce, and Raleigh Custer; and her sisters-in-law, Marjorie Luce, Idalen (Mrs. John) Donegan, and Betsy Traeger Weyel.
Survivors include her children, Charles Henry “Trip” Donegan III and wife Linda, Marjorie Lee Vogt and husband Gary, Anne Michelle Costas and husband Nick, and Amy Rebecca Bethel and husband Gary; and her grandchildren, Charles Henry “Chad” Donegan IV and wife Christy, Melissa Ann Donegan, Matthew Hauschild and wife Jennifer, Chris Hauschild and wife Sarah, Brian Donegan Vogt, Stuart Michael Vogt and fiancée Erin McCavitt, Justin Weyel Vogt and wife Mandy, Nicholas Peter Hantse Costas Jr. and wife Kym, Christopher Teague Hantse Costas and wife Laura, Whitney Rebecca Morgan and husband Craig, and Danielle Donegan Panozzo. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Brooke, Travis, Colten, Cody, Ashley, Matthew, Cassidy, Cayden, Chandler, McKenna, Nicholas, Tyler, Ryan, Jake, Charlie, Henry, Benton, and August; her brother, Rodger Weyel and wife Linda; her brothers-in-law, John Donegan and Emmett Donegan and wife Geri; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Custer and Mary Louise Donegan; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends.
A memorial service celebrating Marjorie’s life was held Monday, April 1, at 4 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Seguin. A reception followed in the home of Anne and Nick Costas.
