Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Ann Beard (nee Mary Ann Hernandez), a longtime resident of Fort Bend County, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 4, 2013, in Damon, Texas. She was born Sept. 27, 1958, in Karnes City to Santos and Katie Hernandez.

Ann was a graduate of Poth High School. She received her degree in nursing from Wharton County Junior College, becoming a registered nurse and certified case manager. She was married to Daniel Roger Beard for more than 30 years. Ann was a devoted Christian woman who cared deeply for her family and was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her father, Santos Hernandez, formerly of Poth.

Ann is survived by her husband, Daniel Beard of Damon; daughter Katie Beard of Houston; son Kevin Beard of Stafford; mother Katie Hernandez of Poth; sisters Rosemary Ramirez and husband Richard of New Braunfels and Irene Valdez and husband Carlos of San Antonio; brother Santos “Sonny” Hernandez and wife Leslie of Poth; brothers-in-law Francis Beard and wife Joyce of Riverside, Michael Beard and wife Nita of Cypress, and David Beard and wife Mary Lou of Rosenberg; sisters-in-law Janice Beard Norman and husband Jerry of Houston and Margie Beard of Rosenberg; numerous nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 8, from 5-8 p.m. in the Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel in Rosenberg.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
