Paul Gene “Popeye” Tkadlec, a resident of San Antonio, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013, at 2:58 p.m. in Odyssey Healthcare of San Antonio at the age of 53 years, 8 months, and 13 days. Paul was born July 23, 1959, in Jourdanton, Texas, the son of Leo and Hilda Richter Tkadlec. After graduating from Floresville High School, class of 1978, Paul was a carpenter for many years. He had been a resident of San Antonio since 1986.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother, Robert Desmond Tkadlec; his brother, Leo Tkadlec Jr.; his nephew, Danny Koenning; his great-niece, Bailey Louise Koenning; and his brother-in-law, Walter Vasbinder.

He is survived by his precious daughter, Jennie Nes and husband Michael of Los Angeles, Calif.; his siblings, Rosie Vasbinder, Mary Koenning and husband Dean, and Richard Tkadlec and wife Gladys, all of Floresville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 13, at 9 a.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville. A memorial service was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Pastor Kelly Tankersley.
