Stockdale News: Club members get spring cleaning tips
The Stockdale Blue Bonnet Club met April 8 in the home of Billie Jo Wolff at 4:30 p.m. Members were served refreshments as they arrived for the regular monthly meeting.
President Bernice Person called the meeting to order. Secretary-Treasurer Vanessa Bosanko read the minutes of the March meeting, gave the treasurer’s report, and conducted the Roll Call.
Reports were given from the Card Committee, Nursing Home Bingo, and Social Committee. Several suggestions were made for the July Outing to be held in lieu of the July business meeting. The committee will get information for three places of interest and report their findings at the May meeting. Mildred Kallies, Nursing Home Visitor for April, reported taking cookies and puddings for the Nursing Home residents.
The May Hostess will be Mildred Kallies, with Mary Denson to be in charge of the program. The May Nursing Home Visitor will be Cathy Hilton.
Program Leader Gina Deason presented an interesting and helpful program on Household Hints and Tips. This book, written by Cassandra Kent, is filled with unusual cleaning tips from “using vinegar to keep a room smelling fresh” to “cleaning white cotton socks by adding a little dishwasher detergent to the regular washload.” If you wish to keep ants out of your house, plant mint near the window or door; place new candles in the freezer for a few hours to help them burn longer; to freshen your breath, chew parsley; and to soften rough feet and hands, rub them in equal portions of cooking oil and granulated sugar. Members were asked to share their favorite household hints. Ms. Deason gave packages of Mr. Clean Magic Eraser as prizes to the members.
In attendance for the meeting were Edith Akin, Charlin Akin, Vanessa Bosanko, Judy Childress, Kay Deagen, Gina Deason, Helen Deason, Cathy Hilton, Ginger Jackson, Mildred Kallies, Sandy Lynn, Sue McLelland, Bernice Person, Sharon West, and Billie Jo Wolff.
