The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will present a Backyard Basics program on homegrown and homemade foods from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 3, in the Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard at 25195 Mathis Road in Elmendorf.
The event will feature hands-on demonstrations related to homemade and homegrown foods to include soaps and beauty products made with olive oil, cheese making with olive oil, and picture-perfect pickles. A presentation by Sandy Winokur, owner and operator of Sandy Oaks Orchards will include a site tour and olive oil tasting. Cost is $55 per person, including lunch.
