Christine (Lehr) Wiggers, 64, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Christine was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 4, 1949, to Paul and June Lehr.

She grew up in Wallingford, Conn. Christine proudly served as a teacher and in the government for 30 years. She courageously battled pancreatic cancer to a standstill for more than 10 months and in the end, it was not cancer, but a stroke that took her life.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer.

Christine is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Douglas Wiggers Sr.; her children, Christopher, Douglas Jr., and Carrie; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial was held on Sunday, April 21, at 2:30 p.m. in the Grace Bible Church in La Vernia.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to a cancer charity of one’s choice.
