Ronald Lee Olinick, 57, passed away Wednesday evening, April 17, 2013, in the Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Ronny was born in San Antonio to Joe and Lorene (Sekula) Olinick on Sept. 28, 1955.

He married Tanja Cannon on May 6, 1978, in the Highland Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio. Ronny was employed by Southwestern Bell for 31-1⁄2 years -- 25 years as a cable splicer and 6-1⁄2 years as a construction manager. After retiring at the age of 49, he began a second career as a telecommunications designer for several firms, the last being CobbFendley.

Ronny was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Anton and Martina Olinick, and Henry and Theresa Sekula; his brother, Wendell; and much-loved uncle, Alvin Sekula.

He is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, Tanja; his beloved son, Matthew Olinick and wife Jennifer; his mother, Lorene; siblings Vonnie and Alvin Brysch, Delvin and Laura Olinick, and Denise and Tim Ramponi; his nieces and nephews, Shane and Stacey Brysch, Misty and Gus Tellez, Dustin, Rachel, and Stephen Olinick, and Haley, Alex, and Andrew Ramponi. Ronny is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Alice Cannon; sister-in-law Tami Kensing; nieces Mandi and Chris Sralla, and Kimberly and Lance Embrey; and great-nieces and -nephews Riley and Luke Brysch, Eden Tellez, and Blake Moy.

Visitation was held Friday, April 19, at 5 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Floresville, with the Rev. Mike Clements officiating.

Interment followed in the Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville.

Serving as pallbearers were Mike Kvapil, Andy Ramos, Dwayne Osburg, Armando Sanchez, Wade Nollkamper, and Aldon Lyssy.
