FLORESVILLE -- Police here are seeking clues into an apparent hit and run April 18, which involved a child crossing the road to board a school bus.

Lt. Chad Clark of the Floresville Police Department said that at approximately 6:50 a.m., a vehicle described only as a white sport-utility vehicle (SUV) struck the boy near the corner of U.S. 181 Business and Mutual Lane -- across from the Northcrest residential subdivision. The bus driver reported that the vehicle’s warning lights were activated, but that the driver of the SUV apparently disregarded them.

The bus driver reported trying unsuccessfully to warn the boy -- who just had left the company of his grandmother -- of the approaching SUV. The bus driver said the SUV’s driver decelerated after striking the boy, but then fled the scene.

Clark said the boy suffered minor cuts and bruises and was treated at the scene by the Wilson County Emergency Medical Services.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Floresville Police Department at 830-393-4055. Anonymous tips, which are eligible for a cash reward if an arrest is made, can be furnished to Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636) or bit.ly/NDrIut.

Mike, not ragging on the cops, just would like to see some protection out there for the kids getting off and on the bus. I can tell you where to find at least 3 or 4 WCSO cars around 7am. Try the taco house off of CR 128

Once the officer's patrol the bus rought the the people will complain about the oil field traffic. Not enough cops here. They do the best they can with the little they have. Stop complaining and bashing the officer's

Hey Mike, I travel both route every morning about the same time. A cop car doesn't have to be there all day. You see it's simple, the bus passes by there every morning about the same time. And it takes about 5 to 10 minute ... More ›
