Water Clerk. The City of Elmendorf  has an opening for a fulltime Water Clerk. Preferred candidates should have good organizational skills and perform routine clerical duties, need to possess good communication skills in dealing with the general public. Duties include receptionist functions, water department billing, processing payments and reconciling daily receipts.  Starting pay is $13.50 per hour. High School diploma or equivalent and drug screening is required. Computer experience, cashier experience and bilingual ability is a plus. The Wilson County News presents its “Candidates’ Forum” in advance of the May 11 elections. Early voting runs Monday, April 29, through Tuesday, May 7. Ballots by mail must be requested by Friday, May 3.

All candidates facing opposition in area races, including city council, school board, hospital board, and other entities, were invited to submit a 200-word message to voters, responding to the following:

•What is your personal, professional, and political background?

•Why are you running for this office?

•What do you plan to accomplish if elected to this position?
