Musical Club holds Fiesta-themed meeting
Dorothy Uhlig and Novelle Mills enjoy refreshments during the Floresville Musical Club meeting.
By Cecelia Moczygemba
The Floresville Musical Club met on April 9 with 58 in attendance. Four new members join us, which makes 10 new members for 2012-13. Birthdays and anniversaries for the month were recognized. President Peggy Tipton urged that we notify Betty Dismuke, our courtesy chairman, whenever we know that a member is sick, etc. so that a card can be sent from the Club.
Our Peanut Festival representative, Lauren Estrada, and our scholarship winner, Emily Morehouse, were introduced. Emily read the theme that won her the scholarship.
Delaine Caravajal and her daughter, Carmela, presented a style show from Friends and Co. Some of our members participated as models, and displayed the beautiful fashions with much style.
The members were informed of several happenings in our area during the next month. We were then reminded that in May we will be touring two homes in the Poth area. The tour of homes is a yearly event that is always enjoyed. Also in May we will have election of officers for the coming year.
Lydia Martinez, our first vice president, asked us to be thinking about talent for next year’s meetings. We were also encouraged by the president to sign up for a month to hostess a meeting.
Betsy Leifeste closed with a prayer. We then adjourned to our reception where we were treated to delicious Fiesta-themed refreshments and decorations.
The hostesses for this month were LaJuana Newnam-Leus, Nancy Traeger, Mary Ann Johnston, Lenora Dickens, Linda Pipes, Peggy Tope, Elaine Kolodziej, Lea Popham, Marilyn Zolkoski, Sara Canady, Edna Brownlow, and Bea Ploch.
