Floresville High School’s April female student of the month is Alexandria Butts, the 18-year-old daughter of Devin and Alison Butts.

Alex is a member in good standing with the National Honor Society and Drama Club. She is president of the speech and debate team and competes in UIL Speech and Debate. She was a regional qualifier in speech and debate three years in a row. For her efforts in the classroom, she has received the Outstanding Student of the Year Award for Pre-AP Biology, Pre-AP English I, Communication Applications, AP English III, AP U.S. History, and Spanish III. She has been named to the A-Honor Roll and most recently was announced as a Commended National Merit Scholar.

Alex has been a member of the tennis team since her freshman year. She has earned recognition as Academic All-District and has received multiple first team and second team All-District awards in varsity doubles and singles tennis.

Alex is active in her church, where she is a member of the youth group at the First Baptist Church of La Vernia. She has volunteered her time feeding the homeless in San Antonio through the Church Under the Bridge project. She has also served as a recreation leader at her church’s kids camp and participated in various mission projects.

Alex has spent time volunteering at the La Vernia food bank and is currently an intern at the First Baptist Church of La Vernia.

Upon graduation in June, Alex plans to attend either Georgetown or the University of Texas. She is considering a major in the Liberal Arts Honor College, possibly focusing on either political science or pre-law.

The April male student of the month is Jorge Campos. Jorge is the 17-year-old son of Jorge and Blanca Campos.

Jorge has been active in numerous FHS organizations. He is the senior class Student Council male representative. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

As a member of the soccer team, Jorge has earned recognition for Academic All-District, first and second team All-District, and Honorable Mention All-District. He has also held the position of team captain. Jorge is also a member of cross country and track. He was a member of band for one year and football for two years. Jorge was also Homecoming King earlier this year.

Jorge is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He has attended an ACTS retreat and participated in the church’s youth group.

Jorge is currently employed at Bill Miller Bar-B-Q.

Upon graduation in June, Jorge plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station to major in civil engineering.
