Harrel Lee “Harry” Walker passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 22 days. He was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Penson Fork, Ky., the son of Oscar and Lula Walker. Harry was a microbiologist as a medical researcher, and a lifetime member of the VFW in Poth.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Oralia Walker, in 2006; his parents; his daughter, Sharon Walker; and his granddaughter, Alana Kayleen Walker.

Harry is survived by his sons, Shawn Michael Walker and wife Judy of Costa Rica and Harry Lee Walker of Sutherland Springs; his granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Walker of Alaska; his grandson, Jacob Daniel Walker of San Antonio; his great-grandson, Zachry Walker of San Antonio; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Monday, April 29, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville,

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Chuck Jennings officiating.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Sutherland Springs.

Serving as pallbearers were Darrell Johnson, Bill Johnson, Charles Franklin, and Charlie Franklin.
