Stockdale plans pre-k registration May 9

The Stockdale Elementary School will be holding its pre-k registration for the 2013-14 school year on Thursday, May 9, from 3:45-5:30 p.m. in the elementary library at 800 S. Sixth St. in Stockdale.

Stockdale Elementary has a full-day prekindergarten program. Pre-k students must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013, and meet certain eligibility standards. Items needed at the time of registration are: state-issued birth certificate, Social Security card, current immunization record, parent’s driver license or identification, proof of residency (a water or light bill), and most current proof of income.

To meet eligibility standards, a student must qualify for one of the following:

•Be unable to speak or comprehend English,

•Educationally disadvantaged (eligible for free or reduced lunch program),

•Be homeless,

•Is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States,

•Is the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty,

•Is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code.
