1945-2013

Antonio “Tony” Alfaro passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 67 years, 6 months, and 25 days. He was born Oct. 9, 1945, in Floresville, the son of Samuel and Frances Guerrero Alfaro. He was a lifelong resident of Floresville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tony Alfaro; his brother, Ralph Alfaro; and his sisters, Mary Rodriguez and Yolanda Valdez.

Tony is survived by his wife, Estella Espinosa Alfaro of Floresville; his children, Iris Barrera and husband Robert of Floresville, Martha Maldonado and husband Flavio of Dallas, Elizabeth Hernandez and husband Ruben of Poth, Roland A. Alfaro and wife Laura of Floresville, and Mark A. Alfaro and wife Christina of San Antonio; his sisters, Olivia Gomez of Floresville and Lillie Gomez of San Antonio; and his brothers, Rudy Alfaro of San Antonio, Arturo Alfaro of Fort Worth, Johnny Guerrero of San Antonio, Sam Alfaro of San Antonio, Charlie Alfaro of San Antonio, and Frank Alfaro of Floresville. He is also survived by others he considered like his sons and daughters, Richard Alfaro, Rudy Alfaro, Jerry Alfaro, Rene Perez, Aurora Rios, and Norma Lopez; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Monday, May 6, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with the Rev. Phil Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Carl Weed, Jason Weed, Robert Barrera, Roland Alfaro, Manuel Alfaro, Eric Alfaro, Richard Alfaro, and Jerry Alfaro.
