KINGSVILLE -- Graduating students from Texas A&M University-Kingsville who purchased an official school ring received them during a special ceremony April 28.

Students have made the ring purchase and ceremony an annual tradition of the university. Its symbols reflect the university’s history and traditions, including the school’s mascot, the javelina; mesquite, cactus, and palm trees; the Lone Star; and the College Hall clock tower.

Area students who received their official school ring are:

•La Vernia -- Zachery Pearson, range and wildlife management; Brody Richter, agriculture science

•Pleasanton -- Melissa Thompson, accounting.
