Get your walking shoes on, put on your sunscreen, and get ready. The much-anticipated annual Bluebonnet Fest takes place Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, in the La Vernia City Park. The event is sponsored by the La Vernia Lions Club.

Friday’s festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with a carnival and a variety of arts and crafts vendors and festival food booths. A dance and live music in the pavilion will end the night from 7-11 p.m.

The festival fun will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the carnival and festival booths. The newly crowned Miss La Vernia and her court will lead a parade at 10 a.m. from the high school onto F.M. 775, then U.S. 87, and ending at San Antonio Road. Enjoy the decorated floats from local and surrounding area businesses, youth organizations, and clubs.

Don’t forget to take the kids to the petting zoo and pony rides from 12-4 p.m. in the City Park and take in the live auction, and maybe even a Wild West Show. Dance under the stars as Clint Taft and the “Buck Wild Band” perform live in the pavilion from 7-11 p.m.

Admission to the park is free.

For more information, call Steve Mays at 210-646-1217.
