Wenceslao “Wence” Vargas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013, in his home in Karnes City. He was born on Sept. 28, 1930, in Robstown, Texas, to Moises and Guadalupe Vargas.

Wence married Maria Rubio on July 16, 1951. He retired from GM after 30 years. Wence was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Elmendorf, as well as St. Joseph Catholic Church in Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his children, Wenceslao Jr., Gilberto, and Guadalupe Vargas.

Wence is survived by his wife, Maria; children Moises, Martin and wife Barbara, Louie, Rosario, Vicente, Lucia, Teresa, Adrian and wife Juanita, Victoria and husband Joseph, and Virginia and husband Martin; a brother, Moises Vargas; a sister, Guadalupe Villareal; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, from 5-9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Palm Heights Mortuary in San Antonio.

A funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Elmendorf officiated by the Rev. Andrew Kafara.

Interment will follow in the San Jose Cemetery in San Antonio.
