1921-2013

Mary J. Lyssy, 91, of Falls City passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013, in Floresville. She was born July 10, 1921, in Cestohowa, Texas, to Pete and Julia Pruski Jaskinia. Mary was a devoted member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City. She and Ben A. Lyssy were married on Feb. 4, 1941, in Cestohowa.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son Raymond Lyssy; sisters Margaret Gorzell and Sister Gerard Jaskinia; and granddaughter Carol J. Moczygemba.

She is survived by her children, Rosalie Moczygemba and husband Ernest, Albert J. Lyssy and wife Veronica, Benedict J. Lyssy and wife Susie, and Alice King and husband Billy; brother Louis Jaskinia and wife Mary; sisters Theresa Dziuk and husband Edwin and Agnes Wiatrek; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and daughter-in-law Barbara Lyssy.

Visitation was held on Sunday, May 12, at 5 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Falls City Cemetery in Falls City.

Serving as pallbearers were Kelly Lyssy, Michael Lyssy, Scott Lyssy, Anthony Moczygemba, Edwin James Moczygemba, John R. Lyssy, Justin King, Joe King, Ricky King, and Cody King.
