Children’s Hospital of SA names interim administrator
SAN ANTONIO -- CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System along with its partner, Texas Children’s Hospital, has announced that the interim vice president and administrator for the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio will be Randall Wright, the current chief operating officer of Texas Children’s Hospital, effective July 1. The announcement was made to associates May 9 by CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System president/CEO Patrick Carrier.
Randall “Randy” Wright has been with Texas Children’s since 2000. He played a key role in leading the hospital’s Vision 2010 initiative, a $1.5 billion, 2 million-square-foot expansion. He also provided consistently strong leadership in building and developing many of Texas Children’s clinical areas, notably the pediatric radiology program and Texas Children’s pediatric practices located throughout the community.
He is scheduled to begin work in early June, even though his official appointment begins July 1, to ensure a smooth leadership transition as Marcy Doderer, FACHE, the current vice president and administrator of Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, transitions to her new role as CEO of Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Wright is a native of Charleston, Ill. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in physics and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. He served as an administrator at the SIU School of Medicine for seven years, after which he moved to Houston, serving in several leadership positions at The Methodist Hospital. In 2000, he joined Texas Children’s as senior vice president and was subsequently promoted to chief operating officer in 2005. Randy is looking forward to his time in San Antonio, which is home to his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchild.
