FLORESVILLE -- A Frick Street resident is undergoing psychiatric care, following a May 7 incident that officials say could have become volatile if not for the quick response of officers from the Floresville Police Department and deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.
The officers swarmed on the home at the corner of Frick and K streets in Floresville, which is located near the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, after someone reported shots being fired by a man who subsequently barricaded himself inside the home. Officers were able to subdue 48-year-old Jeffery Pratt shortly after their arrival.
A woman who identified herself as Pratt’s sister said he pointed a handgun at her inside the residence, prompting her to flee through a front door. Pratt allegedly fired the weapon at the woman, missing her but shooting out the window of a screen door.
Keen said Pratt, who had become involved in a heated verbal altercation with his mother and sister, was taken from the scene to the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville. He later was transferred to a psychiatric hospital in San Antonio for observation. Once cleared by doctors, Pratt will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Keen said.
