FLORESVILLE -- Area residents will honor our nation’s military men and women Saturday, May 18, with the All-American Armed Forces Parade at 3 p.m. in downtown Floresville, starting at the Floresville Electric Light & Power System’s office on C Street (see download of map below also).

The parade will provide a special tribute to the victims of the Boston Marathon terrorist attacks and will honor all veterans, as well as first responders, including police, firefighters, EMS, and postal service personnel.

As the parade begins, a local team of pilots will present a flyover in tribute to veterans, and will fly over the proceedings every 15 minutes during the event.

The parade will include members of the Floresville High School Air Force Junior ROTC, city officials from Floresville and Poth, first responder teams, members of the Floresville and Poth police departments, Wilson County Sheriff’s Office representatives, and more.

The parade culminates with a ceremony at the Floresville Veterans Memorial on D Street on the courthouse square. Bagpiper Harold Sutherland of La Vernia with the San Antonio Pipes & Drums will play “Amazing Grace” to honor deceased veterans. Guest speakers will address the audience.

For more information, call Val Martinez at 210-867-4325 or Humberto “Beto” Rodriguez at 210-548-0379.
