CCSCT is seeking a WIC Eligibility Clerk to provide assistance to WIC clients at its Floresville Clinic. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, assisting customers with questions or concerns, issuing EBT cards and explaining benefits to WIC participants. Applicants must have a HS diploma and a minimum of 1-3 years of experience of related work experience. Starting pay is $10.65 an hour. Applications are available at 1104 D. Four perish in midnight crash near Kenedy

KENEDY -- Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Highway Patrol continue their investigation of a multi-vehicle crash just after midnight May 20 that claimed the lives of four oil- field workers.

DPS Cpl. Javier Reyes said that notification of next-of-kin was pending for one of the men, who was just 18 years old. The other three were identified as 24-year-old Samuel Norwood Jackson of Dallas, 25-year-old Alexander Smalling of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and 24-year-old Joseph Solis of Arcadia, Fla. The four were returning to their oil rig after an evening at a bar in Kenedy. Traveling with them, but riding a motorcycle, was 28-year-old Phillip Batres of Eagle Pass. He sustained multiple injuries and was transported to the Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital in Kenedy.

Jackson, who was driving a 2012 Honda Civic, was traveling westbound on S.H. 72 at approximately 12:20 a.m., when his vehicle struck the rear of a tractor trailer, Reyes said. Batres avoided striking the truck by laying his motorcycle down and sliding underneath.

Solis has ties to the La Vernia area, Reyes said.

DPS has released the identity of the fourth victim. He was 18-year-old Joel Rodriguez of Mission.
