Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Raymond Lee Kowalik Sr. passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, in Schertz, Texas, at the age of 72 years, 2 months, and 5 days. He was born March 12, 1941, in Falls City, the son of Nick and Pelagia “Pearl” Moy Kowalik. He was a former resident of Southern California and a resident of Falls City for more than 20 years. Raymond was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Kowalik; his brother, Virgil Kowalik Sr.; and his daughter, Susan Kowalik Syrell.

Raymond is survived by his children, Lori Rightsell and husband Jerry of Schertz, Wendy Kowalik of Converse, Sandy Kowalik of Converse, Kelly Chafee and husband Marshall of Georgetown, and Raymond Lee Kowalik Jr. of Marysville, Wash.; his sister, Madelyn Benson of San Antonio; and his brothers, James Kowalik of California, Lester Kowalik and wife Dorothy of San Antonio, Leonard Kowalik Sr. of San Antonio, Anthony Kowalik of San Antonio, and Robert Kowalik and wife Jackie of La Vernia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Steven, William, Chris, Eric, Saige, J.D., Allison, Madison, Kassandra, Rachel, and Christina; his great-grandchildren, Savanna, Sadie Kay, and Joshua; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 23, from 6-8 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A rosary will be recited Friday at 10 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Gregory Sawicki officiating.

Interment will follow in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Falls City.

Memorial donations for the headstone will be accepted.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Dean, William Dean, Chris Rightsell, Saige Kowalik, J.D. Kowalik, Leonard Kowalik Jr., Virgil Kowalik, Jacob McClellan, and Vance Kowalik.
