Roy A. “Butch” Thomas Jr., 66, of Adkins passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013. He was born on Dec. 26, 1946, in Tulia, Texas, to Wilford (Brooks) and Roy A. Thomas Sr.

He honorably served in the U.S. Army and also in the Vietnam War. Butch was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Susan Thomas; daughters Amanda Papp and husband Jason, Rebecca Negrete, Brandy Howell, and Jennifer Petsch; grandsons Tyler, Boston, Logan, and Colton; sisters Margaret Moul and husband George and Patricia Cornelison and husband Michael; nephew Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Rodney Christa; numerous other family members; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 21, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel.

Interment will follow with full military honors in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
