The Stockdale Blue Bonnet Club met on May 13 in the home of Mildred Kallies at 4:30 p.m. Refreshments were served as the members arrived for their regular business meeting.

President Bernice Person called the meeting to order. Secretary-Treasurer Vanessa Bosanko read the minutes of the April meeting, gave the treasurer’s report, and conducted roll call.

Reports were given from the Card Committee, Nursing Home Bingo, the Jubilee Float Committee, and Social Committee. Sandy Lynn, the Nursing Home Visitor for April, took refreshments for games at the Stockdale Nursing Center.

The June hostess will be Helen Deason with Barbara Wiatrek to be in charge of the program. The June Nursing Home Visitor will be Charlin Akin.

Gina Deason, scholarship chairman, announced Clayton Lynn as the recipient of the 2012-13 Blue Bonnet Club Scholarship. The recipients of the Linda West Memorial Scholarship for 2012-13 are Taylor Deason, Jordan Jackson, and Clayton Lynn.

The Chamber of Commerce has requested the Blue Bonnet Club be in charge of the Jubilee Queen’s Coronation Reception following the Coronation on Saturday, June 8. Program Chairman Mary Denson presented an interesting and informative program on “Documentation of Hazardous Waste” traveling on the Stockdale highways. This program is offered by the Emergency Services of Wilson County. Denson is one of several people responsible for accurate documentation of various types of trucks traveling through Stockdale on S.H. 123, U.S. 87, and S.H. 97. In one hour’s time during one day, a total of 158 trucks were documented traveling on S.H. 123. The purpose of this program is to allow emergency services to know how much hazardous waste is coming through Stockdale and other towns of Wilson County.

In attendance for the meeting were Edith Akin, Vanessa Bosanko, Linda Carden, Susan Cotter, Kay Deagen, Gina Deason, Helen Deason, Mary Denson, Ginger Jackson, Mildred Kallies, Bernice Person, Molly Rowell, Billie Jo Wolff, and Teri Wolff.
