Taylor West, the daughter of John and Donna West, is Miss Helotes 2013. Taylor, the granddaughter of L.H. and Maureen West of Stockdale and Lucy and George Sturm of Karnes City, was crowned April 20 at O’Connor High School in San Antonio.

One of 18 contestants vying for the title, Taylor was also selected “Best Interview” and “Best Evening Gown” by the judges.

Members of her court are Miss Congeniality Jacinda Meriwether, Miss Citizenship Kristen Workman, Miss Spirit Mallory Snow, Duchess Caitlin Conell, and Princess Francesca Jackson.

Bill Taylor, chief meteorologist for KENS5-TV, served as master of ceremonies.

This pageant has been held for 47 years. Each contestant attended workshops for 10 weeks to learn how to perform the opening routine, how to walk while wearing an evening gown, and how to successfully complete an interview. Grades are also a great part of this contest.

Taylor and her court made their first official appearance at the Helotes Cornyval May 2-5.
