East Central FFA teams excel at state
East Central Livestock team — Ty Baird, Kylie Patterson, Alexis Wagner, and Kaylee Reed
East Central FFA members traveled to the state FFA contests held at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and Texas A&M University in College Station. The East Central FFA had four teams competing in the contests.
The FFA Marketing Plan team of Kolton Dieckow, Steven Fanick, and Megan Van Der Knaap competed at Sam Houston and placed fifth overall. The team was coached by Lorie Kempen, with assistance from student teacher Sara Hering.
At the May 4 Texas A&M contests, the teams competed in the Livestock, Meats, and Poultry Evaluation events.
Leading the Poultry team with a sixth-place individual finish was Stephenie Geistweidt. She was joined by Emileigh Geistweidt, Kelsey Mihalski, and Cheyenne Zaiontz for third place. The team was coached by Ray Pieniazek with assistance from Amanda Cedillo, Texas A&M University student teacher.
The Meats team of Tommy Fletcher, Jordan Hevner, Shelbi Knox, and Aaron Maron placed eighth overall. Pieniazek coached this team with assistance from Texas Tech student teacher Andrea Nordman.
The Livestock team of Tyler Baird, Kylie Patterson, Kaylie Reed, and Alexis Wagner placed 51st overall. Danny Kempen coached this team.
