Francisco “Chico” Farias Tejeda, a longtime resident of San Antonio, entered eternal rest Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 11:45 p.m. in his residence in San Antonio at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 8 days. Chico was born March 8, 1932, in Fairview, Texas, the son of Severiano and Teresa Farias Tejeda.

He attended Fairview schools and was retired from civil service after many faithful years. Chico married Mary Juarez on Sept. 19, 1954, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville. Chico was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Chico was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Baltazar Tejeda, Pablo Tejeda, Jesusa Benitez, and Alfredo Tejeda.

Chico is survived by his loving wife of more than 58 years, Mary Tejeda of San Antonio; his children, Sylvia Tejeda and Francisco J. Tejeda Jr. and wife Alice, all of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Ricardo Galindo III and wife Valerie, Heidi Cantu and husband Javier, Alexandra Nicole Tejeda, and Francisco M. Tejeda III; his great-grandchildren, Maci Rose Cantu, Tiffany Sophia Galindo, and Lyla Grace Galindo; and his siblings, Maria Mermeia, Mateo Tejeda and wife Rosemary, and Angie Luna and husband Adolph, all of San Antonio, and Adelina Zepeda of Stockdale.

Visitation was held on Monday, May 20, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the church officiated by the Rev. Phillip Henning.

Entombment followed in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Rick Galindo, Richard Rodriguez, Orlando Devora, Baldamar Benitez, Francisco Tejeda III, and Mikel Gorbea.
