Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Jose R. “Buddy” Zuniga Jr. passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 2 days. He was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Floresville to Delfina Garza and Jose Zuniga Sr. He was a resident of San Antonio for 18 years and a former resident of Floresville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria A. Zuniga, on July 21, 2008; his parents; and his sister, Evangelina.

Buddy is survived by his children, Maria A. Ramirez of Sugar Hill, Ga., and Gerardo J. Zuniga and wife Marta of San Antonio; his sisters, Oralia Alvarez of San Antonio and Amalia Pena of San Antonio; his brother, Reynaldo Zuniga and wife Theresa of Floresville; his grandchildren, Adriana Longoria and husband Tony, Jose Ramon and wife Lucy Zuniga, Karla Cantu, Elaine Cantu, Melissa Zuniga, and Jessica Jarom and husband Matthew; his great-grandchildren, Ryan, Alexis, Katelym, Aubriana, Ayana, Braleigh, Raul, Aaden, and Erabela; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Friday, May 24, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with the Rev. Phil Henning officiating.

Interment was held Tuesday, May 28, at 11:45 a.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Serving as pallbearers were Andy Garza, Jose Ramon Zuniga, Ryan Zuniga, Fernando Luna, Jonathan Campos, and David Vitrelli.
